Online Associate Degrees at Warner Pacific University

Students who want to study at Warner Pacific University will have access to a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees with some degrees offered online as associate degrees. For example, students may enroll in the physical education program, which requires 18 credits in classes like Human Anatomy and Physiology, Intro to Health and Exercise Science, and Kinesiology.
There are two associate degrees in physical education that are offered by the Department of Natural Sciences and Health. Another degree option at the associate level is the program in organizational dynamics, which is offered online or on-campus. The Associate of Arts in Organizational Dynamics is designed to take two years to complete and requires 21 courses of five weeks each.
Warner Pacific University also offers associate degrees in web and mobile development and another degree in cybersecurity/IT through its sourceU initiative. The degrees from sourceU are offered within a partnership with a coding school called Epicodus. One of the benefits of enrolling in one of the computer science programs at WPU is that they’re accelerated programs where associate degrees are granted in as few as 16 months rather than the traditional 24 months.
There are some opportunities at Warner Pacific University for dual enrollment, and the university calls that option the co-admission program. Students who are interested in co-admission will begin their degree journey at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) and will finish their program at Warner Pacific University. Students only need to apply once to MHCC and will automatically be eligible for enrollment at Warner Pacific University.
While enrolled, students will be able to access advisors at both campus locations, as well as enjoy an increase in flexible scheduling and access to additional classes from multiple institutions. Financial aid is offered to students in the co-admission program, and students also have access to all of the computer lab and library resources on the MHCC campus and all of the Warner Pacific University campuses.
About Warner Pacific University
Warner Pacific University is a private university that is affiliated with the Christian faith and the Church of God, which is a religious denomination with headquarters in Anderson, Indiana. Around 1,300 students attend the university, which has an endowment of $2.95 million. The school was established in 1937 by the efforts of members of the Church of God. The university’s official founding member was named Daniel Sidney Warner, and he secured votes from the church to establish a college in the mid-1930s.
Land was purchased in the Spokane, Washington area for the purpose of building a school, and the institution opened as the Pacific Bible College. In the 1940s, the school relocated to Oregon and its current campus in Southeast Portland. The school was renamed Warner Pacific College in 1961 and received regional accreditation at that time. The school’s final name change came in 2018 when it was renamed to Warner Pacific University.
Warner Pacific University Accreditation Details
Warner Pacific University is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and was first given this approval in 1961. The university applies for reaccreditation once a decade and was most recently approved in 2012. The State of Oregon has also approved the university’s operations, and some degree programs are also approved by the State of Washington for delivery in that state.
Some programs also have specialized accreditation status from various organizations, licensing agencies, and independent accrediting organizations. For example, the education programs are approved by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teachers Standards and Practices Commission. The university’s social work program is approved by the Council on Social Work Education, and the social science certificate is approved by the National Council on Family Relations.
Warner Pacific University Application Requirements
Students who want to attend Warner Pacific University will apply online with the university’s official application and will submit a $25 application fee. Students can submit a College Examination Board Waiver Form if they can’t afford the application fee or request a waiver form directly from their high school guidance counselor. Applicants will also submit their official standardized test scores and will need to have those scores sent directly to the university.
Official transcripts must also come from the student’s high school, and home school students will need to complete the home school supplement form when they apply. The university may request a personal interview from some students or character references from selected applicants. During the application process, students will work with an admission counselor from the university who will ensure that the student’s application is complete with all necessary materials.
Tuition and Financial Aid
For undergraduate students at Warner Pacific University, the cost for full-time enrollment in 12 to 18 credits is $9,450 per semester or $18,900 per academic year. Students may also enroll as part-time students with a rate of $780 per semester credit. Those wishing to audit a class will pay $205 per credit, and students who enroll in more than 18 credits per semester will pay $780 per credit over 18.
In addition to tuition, students may also pay some student fees like a technology fee of $55 per credit, a general fee of $240 each semester, and an associated student fee of $90 per semester. Students may also need to pay a health services fee of $95 each semester, a residence life programming fee of $20 each semester, and a student-athlete participation fee of $125 per semester. Graduate tuition is charged at $734 per credit, and graduate students may also need to pay a variety of fees that are similar to their undergraduate peers.
As with enrollment at the majority of the nation’s accredited universities, students will need to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for federal student loans and other federal aid at Warner Pacific University. The FAFSA is free for students to fill out, and students will receive an official Student Aid Report that the university will use to determine the student’s eligibility for various aid programs.
The university also offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships to students who qualify.
