On Blackboard, the Online Learning Center gives Wake Technical Community College undergrads all-day access to 19 associate and 72 certificate programs with a 17:1 learner-faculty ratio. For instance, the Fire Protection Technology AAS follows a 64-credit, two-year sequence online for strategic skills containing blazes. The 64-credit Healthcare Business Informatics AAS Online has trained RHITs at WakeMed, Duke Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UNC Rex Hospital, and more. Wake Technical Community College was originally chartered on April 3, 1958, by the North Carolina General Assembly as the Wake County Industrial Education Center. In October 1963, an inaugural class of 304 began career-oriented vocational training. The next January, it was renamed the W.W. Holding Industrial Education Center for the County Commissioner. Wake Technical Community College Accreditation Details
On June 11, 2015, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) renewed Wake Technical Community College’s Level I accreditation for 10 years with a Quality Enhancement Plan under president Dr. Stephen C. Scott, who received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award. Headquartered 399 miles southwest via Interstate 85 in Decatur, this respected 11-state Coastal Plains accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to evaluate the standards of WTCC’s 57 associate degrees, 24 diplomas, and 44 certificates. Wake Technical Community College Application Requirements
Getting into Wake Technical Community College is classified as “non-competitive” on Peterson’s because 100 percent of the 14,747 Fall 2017 applicants were victorious. Despite the open-access policy, first-year Eagles still must fulfill an accredited secondary diploma or GED certificate. Only the Career & College Promise Program accepts high school seniors with weighted GPAs above 3.0. On average, freshmen present a 2.74 cumulative average. Taking the NCDAP Test is required for placement. Skipping 000-level remedial courses requires a minimum 151 Reading and English score. The Radiography AAS requires one Chemistry and one Biology course graded “C” or higher. LPN-RN entrants need to have worked as Licensed Practical Nurses within the last five years. The Dental Hygiene AAS considers 40 job shadowing hours as prerequisite too. International F-1 Visa holders prove English fluency with TOEFL paper scores above 450.
Wake Technical Community College traditionally has rolling year-round undergrad admission. However, non-U.S. residents must apply by April 15th for Fall, September 15th for Spring, and February 15th for Summer starts. The Career & College Promise Program also has enrollment deadlines of October 23rd for Spring and July 15th for Fall. Interested online associate students create CFNC accounts to submit the free ($40 if international) Application for Admission. Tuition and Financial Aid
For 2018-19, Wake Technical Community College is charging full-time North Carolina undergrads $1,216 per term or $2,432 annually. Non-resident associate students pay $4,288 each semester and $8,576 by year. Mandatory expenses include the $48 technology fee, $35 student activity fee, $85 campus access fee, and $35 graduation fee. WTCC budgets $9,531 for off-campus Raleigh housing, $1,500 for textbooks, and $4,491 for miscellaneous needs. Annual associate attendance equals $18,290 in-state and $24,434 out-of-state traditionally. Online programs are cheaper billing just $76 for North Carolinians and $268 for non-residents per credit though. For example, the Online Human Services Technology A.A.S. would cost $4,560 to $16,080.
