Some programs are designated as associate of science degrees, and others as associates of applied science. The difference is that the associate of science programs are broader in scope and include many related courses, while the associate in applied science designation denotes a narrower, more focused approach.
The Associate of Applied Science in Management at OK State may be earned with a concentration in General Business or in Management.
The AAS in Business, General Business Concentration is a 60 credit-hour program that includes 18 hours of general education courses including courses in communication skill, US history, US government, and computer skills. There are 39 courses in the “Technical Occupation Specialty” such as Financial Accounting, Business Communications, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Marketing and Management.
The AAS in Business, Management Concentration also includes 60 credit-hours. There are 18 credit-hours in general education and a required computer course in Microsoft Office. Many of the required courses are the same as for the general degree, but this program also includes Business Communications, Business Law and courses in several areas of management.
The Associate of Science in Health Care Administration is a 63 credit-hour program that requires 37 hours in general education in courses such as English composition, US history, US government, introductory courses to psychology and sociology and science courses. Required courses in the specialty include Biological and Medical Terminology, Health Care Systems/ Operations, Medicolegal Principles and Ethical Issues, Third-Party Billing, and others.
The Associate of Applied Science in Police Sciences is a program that offers an alternative path to a career in law enforcement. There are 24 hours of general education courses including introductory courses in psychology and sociology, a required computer skills course and others. There are then 38 hours in the Technical Occupational Specialty. Sample courses in this area include Introduction to Law Enforcement and Police Procedures, Ethics, Traffic, Penal Code and Related Criminal Laws, Patrol Procedures, Patrol Procedures, Police Community Relations, Emergency Medical Responder, Principles of Investigation and Interrogation, Police Records and Responses, Technical Investigation and Occupational Proficiency.
It is offered in a general or a COPS track. The COPS program at Oklahoma State University is a pathway to becoming a certified peace officer in Oklahoma. Students in the COPS program also take Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Emergency Vehicle Operation and Survey in Police Science. There are 65 credit-hours in the associate degree program.
The Associate of Science in Police Science contains 37 credit-hours in general education including composition, US history, American government, Introductory psychology and sociology courses plus science, math and humanities electives. Associate of Applied Science in Police Science, Crime Scene Investigation Concentration is offered with or without CLEET ( Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training). Only the CLEET track is online. There are 23 hours in general education including Principles of Biology with its accompanying lab, Basic Chemistry, English Composition, US History, American Government and courses in speech communications.
The Technical Occupation Specialty portion contains 48 hours and includes Introduction to Forensic Science, Introduction to Law Enforcement and Police Procedures, Ethics, Traffic, Penal Code and other courses common to Police Science programs plus Crime Scene Photography, Technical Investigation Fingerprint Identification and more. The program contains 74 credit-hours.
The Associate of Science in Public Service Administration is a 63 credit-hour program, that contains 37 hours in general education including Masterworks of Western Civilization-Ancient and Masterworks of Western Civilization -Modern as well as psychology and sociology introductory courses, science and English courses and a required course in computer skills.
The 16 credit-hours in Technical Occupational Specialty courses include Introduction to Public Personnel Administration, Public Law, Introduction to Public Service Organizations, Leadership and Group Dynamics, Introductory Public/ Non-Profit Finance and Budget and others.

Oklahoma State University Application Requirements
All students apply online through an Oklahoma State University account. Freshman applicants complete the application, including the essay questions and leadership resume. They also must submit the $40 non-refundable application fee unless they qualify for a fee waiver. Students are responsible for requesting an official transcript to be sent from their high schools, and official SAT/ACT results from the testing agencies.
Graduate students must apply online as well. Requisites differ by program, however, they generally must submit three letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, a resume, official transcripts of undergraduate coursework and official results of any required tests such as the GRE or GMAT.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition at this school is $12,170, including required fees. Room and board costs, books and supplies and miscellaneous expenses add another $10,070. The estimated cost for undergraduates to attend OK State is $$22,240.
Graduate tuition and fees are estimated at $18,820. Students should also anticipate personal expenses and emergency funds in their budgets.

Applicants to the university automatically are considered for university scholarships, but students must apply for specific college aid. All students are urged to complete the FAFSA form.
