The Business Technology Division at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is just one of the departments to offer online associate’s degree programs for students. This division designed an accounting technology that gives students a strong understanding of accounting principles. It includes Principles of Management, Business Law, Managerial Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis and Federal Taxation: Individuals. The division also offers a pre-professional program for those who want to major in business administration and degree programs in finance technology and administrative assisting.
Students can earn an online associate’s degree in hospitality management from the college too. Those who take and pass the Food Service Sanitation course will get their ServSafe certificate, but the college allows students who already have that certificate to skip this class. The curriculum includes Hospitality Careers, which is a course that helps students learn about the jobs available in the hospitality industry. Students can do internships while they take online courses for credit. Those courses include Leadership, Principles of Microeconomics, Rooms Division Management, Food and Beverage Cost Control and Event, Meeting and Convention Management.
Also available is an associate’s degree in health information management, which provides students with a course sequence that shows them how they can graduate in only five semesters of courses. Introduction to Health Information Management, Anatomy and Physiology and Legal Aspects of Health Information Management are the first three classes that majors must take. They’ll also take Clinical Abstracting of Health Data, Health Information Technology Systems, Advanced Medical Coding, and Healthcare Quality Management and Data Analysis.
Students who do not want to declare a major and want to complete a bachelor’s degree can select the college’s Associate of Arts program. This program includes humanities and science courses and allows students to take the prerequisites that they’ll need in a bachelor’s program. The college also offers a degree in computer programming and database management with an emphasis on computer software development. It includes Database Design and SQL 1, Programming 1 and 2, Web Application Development, Java Programming, and Computer Programming and Database Management Capstone.

Also known as Cincinnati State and CSTCC, Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is a community college in Cincinnati, Ohio that also offers technical degree programs. Founded in 1969 as the Cincinnati Technical College (CTC), it opened after the Board of Regents gave it a charter. The Board believed that the school would educate and train students to fill some of the technical jobs in southwestern Ohio. Instead of building a new campus, it took over the campus of an old vocational and technical high school. CSTCC has a main campus that is close to both I-75 and I-74 and satellite campuses in three other cities, which helped enrollment climb to nearly 10,000 students.
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Accreditation Details
Cincinnati State online students can get all the financial help they need because the college has institutional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This accreditation gives students the chance to use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and also allows students to transfer credits to a Cincinnati State program or another university/college. The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) are among the other organizations that granted the college accreditation for its degree programs.
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College Application Requirements
Prospective CSTCC students can contact the Office of Admissions Monday through Friday with any questions they have about the application process. Counselors can chat with students through email or over the phone, but they will also accept appointments for in-person meetings too. The Cincinnati State application is available online and takes 30 minutes or less to finish.
Though the college charges a $15 fee, this fee is not due until the student registers for classes. This allows students to apply without facing any fees if they decide to attend another college. Cincinnati State accepts college, university and high school transcripts from students but will also accept those submitted electronically to the college. It accepts GED and home school transcripts in other ways.
Before students can register for classes, they must take a placement test too. Cincinnati State will waive this requirement for any student who submits a recent standardized test score or a college/university transcript. That transcript must show passing grades in both the math and English composition courses that the student took. Placement tests are available online for those who complete a remote testing form. Students can also schedule a time to take the test on the college’s campuses in Clifton and Middletown.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The cost of attendance at Cincinnati State includes a tuition rate of $163.64 per credit hour for Ohio residents. Students from most states pay the non-resident rate of $327.28 per credit hour. Tuition waivers are available for students who live in certain counties of both Indiana and Kentucky that are close to the main campus or regional campus. Those students qualify for in-state tuition. Students pay lab fees in some classes of $35 to $50 per credit hour and a $30 fee for each cooperative education class they take. Those taking online classes will pay an additional $10 fee for each of their courses.
Scholarships help CSTCC students afford some or all of their costs. Any student accepted by the college who meets the requirements for financial aid can automatically qualify for a scholarship. Cincinnati State opens the scholarship application portal on November first each year and gives students until the middle of February to apply for some of the college’s other scholarships. Students with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, an ACT score of at least 26 or an equivalent score on the SAT and a class ranking within the top 20 percent can also qualify for an honors scholarship. Work-study, grants and loans are also available for online students. Cincinnati State Technical and Community College encourages students to submit the FAFSA when they apply to one of the online associate’s degree programs.
